The Brave and The Bold Vol. 3 #1-31 (Ongoing, Current and Complete)

The Brave and the Bold is the title shared by many comic book series published by DC Comics. The first of these was published as an ongoing series from 1955 to 1983 (Vol. 1). It was followed by mini-series in 1991 and in 1999 (Vol. 2) and was finally revived as an ongoing in 2007 (Vol. 3). The focus of each version of the comic has varied over time but most commonly (and currently for Vol. 3) features various eclectic team-ups of characters from across the DC Universe.

While the first arc "Lords of Luck" written by Mark Waid involved Batman, in a team-up with Green Lantern Hal Jordan, the story had the two team-up with various others characters as well. The second arc "Book of Destiny" picked up threads from the first arc, but mainly focused on self-contained stories under a central theme. Thereafter Waid did four more standalone stories until issue #16. After Waid's departure Marv Wolfman took over for a two part storyline (#17-18), while David Hine and Doug Braithwaite did a four issue arc on the book entitled "Without Sin" featuring Hal Jordan and Phantom Stranger (#19-20) and then Jordan and Green Arrow (#21-22). Dan Jurgens, Matt Wayne, Adam Beechen, and John Rozum, respectively each had self-contained stories featuring team-ups of different DC superheroes, successively (#23-26). Then Michael J. Straczynski started his critically-acclaimed run up to the present (issues #27-31) which made the title one of the best there is in DC's catalog.

As usual I sorted the issues according to story arcs which I then made into single-download RAR archives. After the "Book of Destiny" story arc by Mark Waid, I archived his next four one-shots and named it according to the trade paperback that came out in April of last year, "Demons and Dragons" that reprinted these issues. The self-contained one-shots with different writers from issue #23 to ##26 were archived by that descriptive name. I did not archive Michael Straczynski's run beginning with issue #27 up to the present.

Apparently Straczynski's stories are presented best with artist Jesus Saiz because fans and critics were falling all over themselves in praising their work. For the latest issue #31, with artists Chad Hardin and Justiniano taking over for Jesus Saiz, the visuals just aren't as good, with the story suffering over-all and failing to live up to Straczynski's usual standards. Or perhaps it's because the story is so preposterously far-fetched..? Anyhow we have Volume Three of the ongoing The Brave and the Bold, current and complete, here at Avaxhome.

Comics' greatest archrivalry: The Joker and...The Atom?! The smallest hero in the DC Universe gets into the head of the biggest menace in all of Gotham City! Don't miss an issue of the series that IGN calls 'Fascinating...the work of a master comics storyteller!' -- issue #31 solicitation, dccomics.com
